The Grocery Fairness Act Needs Your Help

SpokenFood recently published a story with graph support showing the comparison between Diesel fuel (calculated by the Environmental Information Administration–(EIA) and your groceries, aka ‘Food-At-Home’ compiled monthly by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). This story continues to get deeper and deeper, but here is an opportunity for you to reach out to Congress and ask those Congresspersons, Reps and Senators (who work for you, btw) to write/sponsor/support brand-new legislation prohibiting price gouging in the food industry.
It’s called The Grocery Fairness Act.
That’s the name. And here’s a ready-made letter for you to send to your Congresspeople, and a link to find your U.S. Representatives and Senators.
Give them this. It’s time to stop the never-ending rise in grocery prices. Trust us…it’s not the gas.

- I am your constituent.
- Grocery staples I buy weekly (bread, meat, milk, eggs, beans) have risen 50–80% since 2019.
- The official CPI numbers say it’s “only risen 30%”—that does not match my reality.
- Distributors and retailers are hiding behind averages, raising margins unchecked.
- Regulators are not monitoring or punishing this behavior.
- Food is essential—like electricity or water–it is NOT a luxury.
- Therefore, we are asking you to please write or support a Grocery Fairness Act to:
- Monitor distributor/retailer prices,
- Enforce penalties for gouging,
- Empower DOJ/FTC to investigate collusion.
- Families in our district cannot afford silence on this issue.
- Protect us by sponsoring and/or supporting this Grocery Fairness Act.

Folks–now is the time to light a match under Congress and get them acting to stop this pricing epidemic (see what we did there?). SF is doing its part by contacting the FTC, state attorneys general and the DOJ Antitrust arm and getting someone to step up and stop this incredible destruction of your finances. But you can do your part and we’re making it easy for you.
Let us know if you encounter any issues or pushback from anyone, especially if you use the phrase, “WalletGate.”
